Classes are organized to suit all levels of skills and creativity. They are held in our newly redecorated Queenstown Art Center rooms which are large and centrally located in Queenstown.

DRAWING IN THE LANDSCAPE WITH JANET WEIR














The tutor Janet Weir is a Dunedin artist who runs the South Seas Gallery in Brighton (just out of Dunedin).


Janet runs a series of classes that focus on drawing landscapes and people doing what they love. The classes are held out in public places; such as local libraries, Cafes, Pubs and great Outdoor spots. Janet's classes are relaxed, social and tutored. The classes focus on constructing strong compositions for paintings. Getting used to using a visual Diary in public places. Revisiting basic drawing skills and understanding the steps needed for successful painting. The class is a great re-focus for new and more experienced artists.

Janet has been a self employed artist for the past 20 years, a member of the Dunedin Art Society for the last 15 years and has run her own classes for 10 years+. Janet has tutored for The Otago Art Society, Otago University Clubs and Societies. Otago Polytechnic, Waikari Art group, Green Island Art group and others

What to bring:

Requirements:An A4 Visual diary and all the pencils, pens, rubbers etc you love to work with.


Out-doorsie stuff: Hats, Sun glasses, sun screen, fold out chairs (If you desire)


Try not to use a camera the memories and the feel of the day are the essentials.


Skill level: beginners to advanced all welcome.


Where and when:

Meet: 10am at QAS Rooms cnr Ballarat and Stanley st


Finish: 4pm at location, Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th March.


Cost: $50 per day ($50 refundable deposit required upon booking, remainder of fee is due 4 weeks before workshop)
