Classes are organized to suit all levels of skills and creativity. They are held in our newly redecorated Queenstown Art Center rooms which are large and centrally located in Queenstown.

"BIRDS OF A FEATHER"

Students learned how to get LIFE in their birds within their paintings with Spike Wademan in this weekend workshop


Spike has been perfecting the use of acrylics in his illustration and paintings over the last 40 years. He is a fun teacher who has quite radical ideas about how to teach art! He has exhibited both locally and in America and has recently gained recognition in the MARITIME art world for his epic sailing ship paintings.


Love or hate?...curious and struggling? Students tried this class and learnt;


  1. to understand the uses & techniques of acrylic paints

  2. how to use colours & improve existing knowledge

  3. to find it's shortcomings and advantages over other mediums

  4. to use shortcuts and perfect the finishing of your work.

ACRYLIC ON LAYERED CANVAS

Learn how to create a layered / three-dimensional artwork - using canvas, acrylics, and GIB stop!

We'll be creating several paintings.


September 25th & 26th 2009 - 9:30am to 4:30pm at the QUEENSTOWN ART CENTRE cnr Ballarat & Stanley Sts.

COST for the 2 day course is $95 for QAS members & $120 for non-members.

MAKE A WILLOW BALL

Lynne Wilson is a Landscape Designer & Artist in willow and clay from Cromwell.


12 keen students turned up at our meeting point and headed off to harvest willow to make our willow balls from.


With our arms (and cars) full we returned to the Queenstown Arts Centre to learn from Lynne.


We all had a great day with wonderful creations the result - many went home to continue making more.
