'WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO SAY?' Susanne Okamoto

FEBRUARY 27th

WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO SAY? Susanne Okamoto

A lecture, watercolour demonstration and discussion, with Susanne Okamoto, a wonderful artist visiting from the States. Susanne has been the director of two cooperative art galleries, maintained a studio in Philadelphia and exhibited widely in Philadelphia and in New York. She has taught regular painting classes and given workshops and critiques since 1984.

Susanne works in oils, watercolor and for some years did printmaking. For twenty-five years she has been teaching art two days a week to adults with a range of abilities.

“Composition, color, and the intention or ideas behind a painting can be addressed across any medium. The question, ‘What are you trying to say here? & ‘How is that particular to you?’ is one I ask all the time. Although I am well versed in watercolor techniques I teach them gingerly because I want each student to speak with their own voice.” - Suzanne Okamoto

"Making art is cheaper than the psychiatrist and far more fun" – Susanne Okamoto
